　　曲靖邮电通讯快速发展，形成了有线、无线、载波、微波、光缆等多种传输手段并行，对内覆盖全市，对外可直拨40多个国家和地区的通讯体系。2007年，全市固定电话总数40万户，比上年增减6．7％。拥有移动电话用户1 44.8万户，比上年增长35．6％。多媒体通讯网络发展迅速，市内有宽带网络服务商3家，英特网已伸入到乡镇。
Rapid Growth in Post and Telecommunications
Post and telecommunication have been developing rapidly．An IDD telecommunication system covering the whole municipality and linking 40一odd countries or regions has
been formed inclusive of such transmission means as wired，wireless，carrier，microwave，and optical cable．In 2007，there are 400，000 fixed telephones subscribers，a 6．7％decline
against last year，1,448，000 mobile phone users，and a 35．6％growth over the previous year．Multimedia communication network has been developing rapidly.There are 3 wide—band
network servers and one can surf the Internet in any township of Qujing．

　　曲靖现有鲁布革电厂、曲靖电厂、宣威电厂、滇东电厂等大中型水、火电厂，发电装机容量400万千瓦，是云南“西电东送”、 “云电送粤”的重要基地。正在建设的滇东电厂二期和宣威电厂、曲靖电厂扩建工程投入使用后，区域内装机容量可达1 000万千瓦。
Power Industry Lending an Impetus
Large—and—medium—sized hydro and thermo plants have been set up in Qujing，for example，Lubuge Power Plant，Qujing Power Plant，Xuanwei Power Plant and Diandong
Power Plant．The installed generating capacity comes to 4 million kilowatts．Qujing has developed into a key base in Yunnan for the programs known as“transmission of electricity
from the West to the East”and“transmission of electricity from Yunnan to Guangzhou”．After the completion of Diandong Power Plant phase II，and extension of Xuanwei Power
Plant and Qujing Power Plant，the installed generating capacity will reach to 10 million kilowatts．

There are 3 universities，7 secondary technical schools and 12 vocational schools．Qujing No．1 Middle School has taken the lead in Yunnan in the national college entrance examinations．
